Year 1
Acting Technique 1 develops fundamental acting skills in actors. Using fundamentals from the Meisner Technique and BEATTM, during this stage actors will:

Acting for the screen involves learning a set of specialist skills that actors need to develop, in addition to core stage acting competencies. The Screen Acting module comprises teaching units in:

Acting Technique 2 focuses on relationship work and emotional preparation. The skills learnt in this module extend the actor’s ability to portray characters powerfully on stage. In Acting Technique 2, actors will:

Voice 2 is a tailor made module, designed to help you further strengthen your vocal instrument. Voice 2 looks to build on the work of Voice 1, deepening the understanding of your instrument and the skills required to make clear vocal choices. Voice 2 will have a greater emphasis on text and how we use our words, sounds, and rhetoric to create a dynamic vocal landscape that paints pictures.

Movement 2 has been specifically designed to reflect your acting training, teaching you elements that will help you connect with the other actors on stage.

In Screen Acting 2, students will learn more advanced screen acting skills to help them navigate set life. Students find this module invaluable since in addition to key competencies in camera work, it helps them understand screen acting in the wider context of the film industry. Year 2
The Advanced stage completes the actor’s training at the Actors Door Studio. It focuses on the development of advanced characterisation techniques crucial in the portraying of powerful, memorable and convincing characters on stage and screen. Actors will also learn specific and highly specialised performance skills that will help them launch successful careers in this very competitive industry.

In this laboratory style class, actors will have the opportunity to ‘break the technique’. Central to Fay Beck’s approach, is the idea that a technique must be open enough to keep evolving with changing theatrical and film acting styles. At this stage of their training, actors will have gained sufficient mastery to present their own style cases for study by the rest of the group and the instructor.

The Final Year Showcase is an event for industry professionals and takes place at a central London theatre venue. Past showcases have taken place at the Tristan Bates Theatre. The focus of the showcase, is to bring together everything you have learned throughout your training and to showcase your abilities in front of talent agents, casting directors and other industry professionals.
You will be preparing for the Final Year Showcase during Term 3 of the Advanced Scene Study module.
The FilmCase Course is designed to equip graduates with showreel material as they finish their training. Students are able to apply what they have learnt during Screen Acting modules into their showreel performances. Bespoke scenes are created for graduating actors, taking into account casting types and the student’s own preferences as regards story, style and characterisation. Scenes are screened at the Graduation Industry Showcase, giving invited agents and industry professionals an opportunity to see not only the stagecraft, but also the screen acting skills of graduating actors. The module includes:
